A-STEP FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN SLEEP TECHNOLOGY
The Lifeline Centers for Sleep Disorders in Forest Hills, Pennsylvania, now offers an Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP) for
individuals interested in receiving formalized education and training in sleep technology, regardless of experience level.
An educational initiative of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), A-STEP provides participants with standardized education and training that
develops a knowledge-base about sleep medicine and strengthens the professional skills required of a sleep technologist. As a staff member at a sleep
facility, a sleep technologist administers sleep tests to patients as well as therapeutic services. The sleep technologist also assists the sleep
physician with patient care and education.
A-STEP is offered by sleep centers that have met standardized requirements set forth by the AASM. As an A-STEP Provider, Lifeline Centers for
Sleep Disorders has earned this accreditation and now offers its own Introductory Course, providing an overview of the basics of sleep medicine.
The cost of the program is $2500.00, with a $500.00 deposit due prior to the first day of class.
The Lifeline Centers for Sleep Disorders is now accepting applications for our 2009 classes. The A-STEP approved course will incorporate didactic learning
with overnight rotations. Upon completion of the 80 hours, students will take a 110 point final exam through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
The student will then have 18 months* to complete 14 modules. At that point, the student will be registry eligible.
Registration is limited. Individuals interested in receiving formalized education and training in sleep technology by enrolling in Lifeline Centers for
Sleep Disorders' A-STEP can contact Ann McKnight, RPSGT, by email at epochsleepconsulting@gmail.com
or phone at (724) 350-7315.
